Shane Dawson named NWL Pitcher of the Week
(Memorial Stadium - Boise, ID) - The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club has announced that the Northwest League of Professional Baseball has named LHP Shane Dawson the Pitcher of the Week (July 29 - August 4).
Dawson, 19, made two starts for the Canadians going nine innings over that span, striking out 15 without allowing a run.
On July 30th against the Eugene Emeralds, Dawson struck out six over his four innings of work in his Northwest League debut.
Five days later, Dawson would make his first professional start in Canada going five innings, striking out a season-high nine Hillsboro Hops to pick up his first win.
Prior to joining the Canadians, Dawson struck out 50 in 36 1/3 innings with Bluefield of the Appalachian League.
This marks the first time this season that a Vancouver Canadians pitcher has been acknowledged for his efforts on the mound. Canadians LF Jordan Leyland received Player of the Week honours for the week of July 1-7.
