Twins acquire Miguel Sulbaran from Dodgers
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that the Twins have acquired LHP Miguel Sulbaran from the LA Dodgers to complete the Drew Butera trade and assigned him to Cedar Rapids. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Dodgers originally signed Sulbaran as a non-drafted free agent on March 30, 2011 and he was playing with the Great Lakes Loons at the time of the trade. With Great Lakes, he posted a 6-4 record, 3.01 ERA and one save in 23 games (16 starts), allowing 89 hits and 40 runs (31 earned) with 27 walks and 85 strikeouts in 92.2 IP. He was tabbed as the Dodgers #14 top prospect by MLB.com prior to the 2013 season and he last pitched on August 9 at Bowling Green.
Sulbaran will be active and available for tonight's 6:35 pm game with Beloit. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the MWL maximum of 25, with three players currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels open a three game home stand tonight at 6:35 pm against the Beloit Snappers. The upcoming home stand continues through Friday, August 16th.
