Miller wins first start for Hooks

April 11, 2006
Joshua Miller worked six strong innings in his first start of the season as Corpus Christi beat visiting Frisco, 5-2, on Tuesday.

Miller (2-0), who picked up a win in relief over San Antonio on April 8, allowed one run on three hits while striking out five.

Ben Zobrist, Hunter Pence and Jonathan Ash each collected three hits and scored a run for the Hooks (2-3), who rebounded nicely from Sunday's 13-6 loss to San Antonio.

Nate Gold homered and Vince Sinisi had two hits for Frisco (2-3), which has lost two in a row.

RoughRiders starter Thomas Diamond (0-1) lasted 3 2/3 innings, yielding three runs -- one earned -- and five hits. He walked one and struck out seven.

The teams continue their five-game set at 8:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday. -- Eric Justic/MLB.com
