Rockies' outfielder Clark suspended

Former sixth-rounder gets 50-game ban for amphetamine use
May 1, 2009
The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Colorado Rockies Minor League outfielder Kevin Clark has received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for an amphetamine, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Clark is effective immediately.

Clark, currently a member of Class A Advanced Modesto of the California League, was selected by the Rockies in the sixth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

The 23-year-old Manatee Junior College product ranked second on Class A Short-Season Tri-City in homers as a rookie in 2007 before batting .262 with 17 home runs, 76 RBIs and 22 steals for Class A Asheville in the South Atlantic League last season.

His 76 RBIs with the Tourists ranked him 11th in the league.

Clark's suspension comes one day after Brewers' Minor League pitcher Pedro Lambertus was banned for 50 days after testing positive for metabolites of Boldenone.
