Home Run Derby lineup announced
The All-Star Home Run Derby is being held in conjunction with the 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All-Star Game, a matchup between the top players from the Pacific Coast League and International League that will take place at PGE Park on Wednesday, July 15 on ESPN2.
Brendan Katin of the Nashville Sounds is 3rd in home runs in the Pacific Coast League with 19. Joining him for the PCL will be Terry Evans of Salt Lake and John Bowker of Fresno, both of whom are tied for 4th with 17 homers.
Shelley Duncan of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees is the current home run leader in the International League with 21 home runs. Joining him for the IL will be Andy Tracy of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs with 14 home runs and former Portland Beaver Justin Huber of the Rochester Red Wings with 11 home runs. Tracy is tied for 3rd in the IL in homers.
Sid Jensen of Hillsboro High School finished first in the preliminaries at PGE Park and hit three home runs during his junior season. Kevin Taylor of Sunset High School finished 2nd in the preliminaries. Taylor, who will turn 18 on the day of the Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby, was the Oregon 6A Player of the Year this past season and finished with 11 home runs.
