ROUND ROCK, Texas - Curley Culp, a 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, will appear at Dell Diamond for Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game between the Round Rock Express and Oklahoma City RedHawks.
Culp played 179 games over 14 seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the second round in 1968. The All-American defensive tackle was selected out of Arizona State and went on to spend seven of his 14 years of professional football service with the Houston Oilers from 1974-1980. During that time, he garnered the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year award from the Newspaper Enterprise Association in 1975 and helped Houston to back-to-back appearances in the AFC championship game in 1978 and 1979. Culp was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a first team All-Pro in 1975. He was the starting left defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs in the team's Super Bowl IV win over the Vikings in 1970.
Culp, who currently resides in Pflugerville, Texas, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 3 as a part of the 2013 class that also included Larry Allen, Cris Carter, Jonathan Ogden, Bill Parcels, Dave Robinson and Warren Sapp. Saturday's game is set to start at 7:05 p.m. as fans are encouraged to wear Oiler blue in support of Houston's most recent Hall of Fame inductee.
