Equipment Drive at Dell Diamond

The Round Rock Express have teamed up with long-time Westwood High School Head Baseball Coach Bart Bratcher and JET Baseball, his non-profit select baseball organization, to host a baseball equipment drive, Sunday, August 25 at Dell Diamond in support of the Zimbabwe Baseball Association (ZBA).

Fans are encouraged to bring gently-used baseball equipment and/or baseballs to the home plate gates between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in exchange for a general admission ticket to the night's game - specific equipment needs are for 12 year olds and up.

Here's a list of acceptable items:

• Leather Baseball Gloves

• Bats

• Balls

• Catcher's Gear

• Helmets

• Duffle Bags

• Incrediballs (or safety balls)

All donations are tax-deductible.

While the sport of baseball is played in some areas of Zimbabwe, the economic situation is such that the cost of purchasing equipment is prohibitive. The vision of Mandi Mtasa, president of ZBA, is to utilize baseball in the schools as a platform to work with the youth, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share AIDS seminars.
