Odor perfect in RoughRiders' win
Rougned Odor was perfect at the plate Tuesday. Nick Martinez was nearly perfect.
The Rangers' No. 3 prospect posted his first 4-for-4 performance in Double-A as Frisco defeated Corpus Christi, 5-1, on Tuesday.
Odor, who singled three times and doubled once, drove in a run and scored another for the RoughRiders. He also stole his fourth base in five Texas League attempts.
The 19-year-old second baseman joined Frisco on Aug. 1 and has batted .290 with five homers and 15 RBIs in 24 games with the club. Odor has smacked six doubles, two triples and scored 15 times for the RoughRiders.
Odor had one other four-hit performance this season, going 4-for-5 on July 27 while playing for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach. Overall this season, the Venezuela native is batting .302 -- second among Texas' Minor Leaguers -- with 55 extra-base hits and 80 runs.
While Odor starred with the bat, the pitching nearly stole the show. After rehabbing Nick Tepesch gave up a run on three hits over the first two innings, Martinez followed with seven hitless innings, striking out six and walking one to earn his first Double-A win.
Since joining the Texas League on Aug. 10, Martinez has posted a 1.04 ERA while allowing eight hits over 26 innings. In 26 appearances between Myrtle Beach and Frisco, the Florida native is 11-7 with a 2.54 ERA.
Ryan Rua slugged a solo homer, his second in 17 games with Frisco, and Luis Sardinas, the club's No. 2 prospect, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
