Osprey let 6-0 slip away in loss to Ghosts
The Ghosts scored the final eight runs of the game, including two in the bottom of the eighth inning, to steal an 8-6 win from the Osprey in front of 1,510 witnesses.
In four of the six games the two teams have played this season, the team who scored first lost four of six, while the team which held the lead after three innings in each game has won just once in the six games.
The Osprey (13-9), who's lead in the Pioneer League's North Division shrunk to one game over Great Falls, scored a pair of runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. However, Casper would score four times in the home half of the fourth, added a run in both the sixth and seventh innings, then scored a pair of runs in the eighth, thanks in part to three Osprey errors.
Raywily Gomez singled and tripled, driving in a run and scored twice for Missoula, and extended his current hitting streak to 14 games. David Nick (RBI) and Keon Broxton also had two hits each, while Jae Yun Kim drove in a pair of runs for the Osprey.
Adam Worthington (2-1) took the loss for the Osprey, giving up the two unearned runs in the eighth. The loss spoiled the starting debut for Mike Belfiore, who pitched a solid two innings, scattering three hits and collecting two strikeouts.
The Osprey and Ghosts will wrap up their series on Friday at Mike Lansing Field. The Osprey will send right-hander Miguel Pena to the mound, while the Ghosts will counter with right-hander Chris Balcom-Miller, who has yet to allow a run in three starts this season. The Osprey will head to Idaho Falls after the game and will start a four-game series with the Chukars on Saturday.
The Osprey will return home for a six-game homestand beginning Thursday, July 23. Tickets for any remaining game this season can be obtained for all Osprey home games by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W.
