Red Wings sweep a pair in Rochester

The PawSox mounted virtually no offense on Wednesday night against the Red Wings, falling 5-0 and 6-1 in a doubleheader.

In the opener, Aaron Bates and Bubba Bell accounted for the 2 Pawtucket hits. Kris Johnson took over the I.L. lead with his eleventh loss. Johnson fell to 3-11, despite pitching well for 4 innings. Steve Tolleson had an rbi single, Justin Huber homered and Danny Valencia smacked a 2 run double.

In the night cap Armando Gabino held Pawtucket to three hits and one run. Angel Chavez knocked in the only Pawtucket score with a double in the third inning. Charlie Zink (4-11) tied Kris Johnson with his eleventh loss, as well.

The sweep drops the slumping PawSox to 44-50. They've lost 14 of their last 16 games. The series and brief road trip wraps up on Thursday morning at 11:05 a.m. Enrique Gonzalez (7-8, 5.74) faces Phillip Humber (4-7, 6.28).
