Snappers Hot on Heals for Toronto's Ace

July 29, 2009

With the Major League Baseball trade deadline looming later this week the Beloit Snappers are in the hunt for Toronto Blue Jay's ace Roy Halladay.

The rumored offer as it stands right now is the Snappers receiving right handed pitcher Roy Halladay and cash consideration for the rights to the Snappy Burger, the hottest new food item at Pohlman Field, and intern Tyler Beinlich.

"We would be giving up our most popular food item by trading the Snappy Burger, as well as losing a highly touted intern and front office prospect in Tyler Beinlich." said Snappers GM Jeff Vohs. "However you have to give up quality to get a great starting pitcher like Halladay."

The Snappy Burger has been a fan favorite since being introduced for the 2009 season. Beinlich who has been in the intern rotation with the Snappers since mid-May has been discussed in other trade talks, with one scout stating, "Which ever club ends up with Beinlich is going to be thrilled with his talents. He is a potential five-tool guy, he can sell, cook on the grill, run a barrel, drag the infield, and I believe there's still more tarp pulling power in him."

Beinlich who was drafted out of the 2009 Beloit Snappers Intern Draft was the third overall pick from the University of Wisconsin - Parkside.
