Blanks, Wizards pound Rattlers

Kyle Blanks lifted a three-run homer and had four RBIs to lead Fort Wayne to a 13-4 win over visiting Wisconsin on Tuesday.

Fort Wayne (11-7) combined for 14 hits, including three from Nick Hundley and Chad Steiner and two from Blanks and Joshua Alley. Hundley and Allen also had three RBIs each.

Nick Johnston extended his hitting streak to 13 games, going 1-for-4 for the Wizards. He leads Fort Wayne with a .367 batting average.

Starter Marwin Vega (1-2) allowed nine runs on eight hits in five innings for the Timber Rattlers (8-11). Reliever Ruben Flores gave up four runs in the sixth.

Wisconsin scored two runs in the second on RBI singles by Chao Kuan Wu and Casey Craig. Fort Wayne scored four in the second on an RBI single by Steiner and a three-run double by Alley. Wisconsin tied it in the top of the third, but the Wizards got both runs back in the bottom half of the inning. Blanks launched his three-run blast in the fifth and the Wizards added another four in the sixth to cap the blowout.

Joshua Geer (3-0) picked up the win allowing four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits in six innings. He fanned three and didn't walk a batter. Relievers Eduardo Pena and Manny Ayala combined to hold Wisconsin scoreless the rest of the game.
