Zephyrs Host Cubs For Four-Game Series

Hornets Night, fireworks, replica jersey giveaway among weekend festivities
July 31, 2009
A pair of fireworks shows highlight the weekend at Zephyr Field when the New Orleans Zephyrs and Iowa Cubs begin a four-game series on Saturday, August 2 at 6:00 p.m.

The first postgame fireworks extravaganza comes after Saturday's contest, which will feature a Replica Jersey Giveaway in honor of Kirk Bullinger, the Zephyrs' all-time ERA leader who will officially be inducted into the New Orleans Professional Baseball Hall of Fame. Following fireworks, fans can stick around for a concert with Country Fried.

There's a "buzz" for Sunday's Hornets Night at Zephyr Field. Hugo, the Honeybees, and more Hornets personnel will be on hand to participate in on-field entertainment during the 6:00 contest with Iowa. Fans who wear their Hornets gear to the game will receive a dicounted ticket of $5. The Zephyrs will wear special uniforms for the occasion, sporting the Creole Blue, Purple and Gold of the Hornets. After the fireworks, kids are invited to run the bases on the field.

Monday is United Way Night, as the Zephyrs help United Way of Greater New Orleans with its Community Kickoff Cheers For Volunteers. It will be a special "Dollar Dog" night, with hot dogs available for just $1 throughout the game, with Kermit Ruffins performing the National Anthem before the 7:00 first pitch.

The series concludes with a matinee on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Fans can receive 2-for-1 admission by bringing a canned food item or a Kraft Singles wrapper to the ticket office.
