Princeton Rays Announce 2014 Schedule
Princeton Rays' fans and followers can now turn their baseball thoughts to next summer as the P-Rays 2014 schedule was made official and unveiled on October 29.
Princeton's 18th season as a Tampa Bay affiliate commences with a home opener on June 19, 2014 at Hunnicutt Field versus the league's newest affiliated team in the form of the new Pittsburgh affiliate, the Bristol Pirates. This will be the Pirates first entry in the Appalachian League since the last game they played in the league in 1989 as ironically the major league sponsor for Princeton, who were then known as the Princeton Pirates.
The 23rd edition of the annual Mercer Cup Series will begin with Princeton traveling to Bluefield for a single game versus the Blue Jays on July 1. The series will resume with Bluefield going to Princeton for three games on July 12-14. The remainder of the contests for the 11-game series between the two cross-county rivals next summer will all take place in August with three games at Bluefield on August 7-9 and four games at Princeton on August 13-16. The Mercer Cup is awarded annually to the winner of the Bluefield-Princeton regular season series.
Standard home single game times for the P-Rays as of the time of the announcement are slated to remain the same as last year with Monday-Saturday games starting at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday games at 6:05 p.m. There are two daytime games also on the team's schedule with the Sunday, July 13 game versus Bluefield to start at 2:05 p.m. while first pitch for the Thursday, July 24 game versus Johnson City is set for an 11:05 a.m. start. Gates will open 65 minutes prior to game time.
The promotional schedule for the Princeton Rays will be updated throughout the spring. Persons needing to order tickets or requiring more information on the Princeton Rays are asked to contact the team either via e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 304-487-2000.
