Zephyrs Host Sky Sox, Bees In 8-Game Homestand
The Zephyrs are coming off a tough West Coast road trip that saw them lose six of eight contests with the Fresno Grizzlies and Sacramento River Cats, with five of the losses coming by one run.
The Z's have been led by the torrid hitting of outfielders Brett Carroll and Jai Miller. Since he was optioned to New Orleans on August 3, Carroll responded by hitting safely in nine of 10 games, batting .405 with four home runs and 10 RBI. Miller, meanwhile, has batted .424 with four doubles, three home runs and eight RBI over his last eight games.
The homestand begins on Friday with the series opener against Colorado Springs at 7:00 p.m. Paul Mainieri, head coach of the National Champion LSU Tigers, will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs, and fireworks will follow the game.
Saturday and Sunday are both 6:00 p.m. starts, and kids will have their chance to run the bases at Zephyr Field after Sunday night's game.
After an 11:30 matinee on Monday, the Zephyrs welcome the other top team in the Pacific Northern Division, the Salt Lake Bees, starting with a 7:00 game on Tuesday. Wednesday will feature $1 hot dogs, and Thursday will have $1 soda and $2 beer. The homestand concludes with another fireworks extravaganza on Friday the 21st.
