Canadians fall 2-1 in 13 innings to Tri-City

Morla strikes out 10; Vancouver struggles in 13th
August 15, 2009
(Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A wild pitch and two passed balls from Canadians RHP Nathan Long and C Gabriel Ortiz allowed Tri-City 1B Ben Paulsen to score all the way from first base helping the Dust Devils to a 2-1 victory in 13 innings on Friday night out at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The Canadians would score early as in the bottom of the 1st inning 1B Anthony Aliotti singled home LF Myrio Richard giving Vancouver an early 1-0 lead.

That run would be the only one that Vancouver would score in the longest game of the C's season to date.

Tri-City would score in the top of the 2nd inning as 3B Joseph Sanders doubled home LF Kevin Clark to tie the game at 1-1.

From there, the pitching took over as Canadians starter RHP Ronny Morla would strike out 10 through his seven innings of work. Tri-City starter RHP Dan Perkins would go five innings giving up just four hits and one earned run.

Both bullpens were strong with Tri-City LHP Craig Benningson (7-3) earning the victory and RHP Charles Ruiz grabbing his 14th save of the season.

Vancouver RHP Nathan Long (1-2) absorbed the loss after struggling along with C Gabriel Ortiz in the 13th inning.
