Orioles Split Series with Rays
The Rays (28-21) took Friday night's game by a score of 8-2. Deivis Mavares (4-0) received the win for the Rays. He threw six shutout innings and struck out five batters. Rutherford Shuman picked up his third save of the season. Shuman threw three innings, struck out six batters, and gave up two runs.
Justin Anderson (2-1) received the loss for the Orioles, giving up three runs (one earned) in three innings of work. Omar Casamayor continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run batted in on the night.
The Babybirds bounced back in the final game of the series with a 5-3 win. Vito Frabizio raised his record to 4-3. Frabizio threw seven shutout innings and struck out four Rays' batters while lowering his earned run average to 3.05. Sam Taveras picked up his third save of the year, throwing .2 innings without giving up a run in relief.
Luis Ramirez led the offensive attack at the plate for the Orioles. Ramirez went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in. Kipp Schutz went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. Lance West also went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Babybirds. Zachary Rosscup (1-3) received the loss and gave up one run and four hits in five innings of work for the Rays.
The Orioles return to action on Sunday, August 16 to start a three-game series with the Bristol White Sox at Bowen Field. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
