Two Fireworks Shows, Star Wars Night Highlight Final Home Stand

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Royals open their final home stand of the 2009 season on Saturday, August 22nd with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Oklahoma City RedHawks at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Royals will play 14 games, plus complete a suspended game, over the 13-day home stand vs. Oklahoma City, New Orleans and Iowa. These exciting promotions are on tap:

Saturday, August 22, 7:05 p.m.: It's PayPal Fireworks Night, with post-game fireworks! Plus, Myron Noodleman will be performing between innings. The night is also presented by WOWT and The Reader.

Sunday, August 23, 1:35 p.m. DH: The Royals and RedHawks play a doubleheader to make up for a game rained out in April. It's Walnut Ridge Family Dental Autograph Sunday: fans get FREE autograph cards to get autographs from Royals players from 12:45-1:15 p.m. National softball star Rusty Bumgardner will put on a one-of-a-kind hitting display prior to the twinbill. Plus, it's U.S. Bank Family FUNday, with clowns, face painting and balloon art, plus after the 2nd game all kids are invited to run the bases with Casey! Subway Kids Club members receive a FREE ticket to the doubleheader! Any fan bringing an Our Family Brand food item gets a FREE General Admission ticket, donations going to the Open Door Mission. Tuesday, August 25, 7:05 p.m.: It's Valpak 2-Buck 2uesday: General Admission tickets are only 2 bucks! Plus, bring a Kraft Singles cheese wrapper for a buy-one-get-one-free deal good on any level of Royals tickets. It's also Volunteer Appreciation Night: special ticket discounts were offered to volunteers and their organizations. Those volunteers will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. Wednesday, August 26, 7:05 p.m.: It's the series opener vs. New Orleans and back by popular demand, it's the 2nd Bark in the Park Night of the year. Call 738-5112 to get your pooch into doggyville. It's also Subway Kids Eat Free: the 1st 100 kids 12-and-under receive a free personal Subway pizza and all kids after that get a free hot dog and Coke. Subway Kids Club members get a FREE ticket to the game! It's also Health and Wellness Night: employees in the health care field get tickets at a discounted rate, with the deadline to order tickets Friday, August 21. Thursday, August 27, 5:30 p.m.: Gates open at 5:15 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch as the Royals and Zephyrs complete their July 3rd game that was suspended by rain tied at 2-2 after 10 innings. If that contest is completed in time, the regularly scheduled game, which will be nine innings, will start at the original first pitch time of 7:05 p.m. Start the weekend early with Thirsty Thursday! Enjoy $1 beers and Cokes, presented by 96.1 The Brew, Action 3 News and the City Weekly. It's also Teacher Appreciation Night, presented by Oriental Trading Company. Teachers who register in advance get a FREE ticket to the game. Nine lucky teachers will win prizes, including a grand prize of free classroom supplies for one year (up to $1,000)! Friday, August 28, 7:05 p.m.: It's the final Werner Enterprises Friday Fireworks! It's also Star Wars Night - Rosenblatt will be invaded by Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, R2D2 and other characters from the classic movies. The Royals players will wear black hats, which will be autographed and auctioned off to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The night is also presented by KAT 103, KETV and the City Weekly.

Saturday, August 29, 7:05 p.m.: It's Public Service Appreciation Night! Area police, fire, military and other public service personnel will have displays in the stadium parking lot to show fans how they keep our community safe. In conjunction with the night, it's also Disabled American Veterans Appreciation Night: those veterans receive half-price tickets to the game. Plus, all fans will receive limited-edition card sets - including Alex Gordon, Kila Ka'aihue and Kyle Davies - courtesy of Disabled American Veterans.
