George Foster To Appear At Victory Field

Former MVP Scheduled At Victory Field Friday and Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS -- Former National League Most Valuable Player George Foster is scheduled to appear at Victory Field Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22 during the Indians games vs. the Louisville Bats, Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Foster will sign autographs for fans during the Indians 7:15 p.m. game Friday and 7 p.m. game Saturday.

Proceeds from autograph and memorabilia sales will benefit the Foster Safe Youth Network and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis. Fans may have their own item autographed for a $10 donation and 8" x 10" photos, baseballs and bobbleheads are available for purchase for $20 each.

Foster played 134 games with the Indianapolis Indians in 1973 and batted .262 with 15 home runs and 60 runs batted in. As a member of the Cincinnati Reds, he was named the National League Most Valuable Player in 1977 when he batted .320 with 52 home runs, 149 runs batted in and 124 runs scored. Foster was the only Major League player to hit 50 or more home runs in a single season between 1965 and 1990.

Foster played 18 seasons in the Majors with the Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Chicago White Sox. He was named the Major League All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in 1976 and was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2003.
