Francisco Leandro is Promoted to AA Montgomery

Leandro is First Oak to Turn into a Biscuit in 06
April 28, 2006
VISALIA, CA - Oaks outfielder Francisco Leandro was promoted to AA Montgomery Friday by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Leandro had a huge 2005 for the Oaks. He hit .355/.449/.569 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with 8 HR and 33 RBI in 60 games after his promotion to Visalia on July 4th. The talented outfielder had not found his rhythm yet in 2006 and was hitting just .119/.159/.143 in 42 AB while playing a few times a week.

The Devil Rays were forced to shuffle outfielders around the minor league system because AAA-Durham outfielder and top prospect, Delmon Young, was suspended indefinitely after throwing a bat at an umpire following a dispute over balls and strikes in Pawtucket earlier in the week.

Tuesday, the Oaks placed catcher Josh Arhart on the DL. He is expected to miss at least a week recovering from the side effects of a concussion sustained Monday night.

The Oaks begin a three game series Friday in San Bernardino against the Inland Empire 66ers at 7:11 PM. Follow all of the action live on AM 1270.
