U.S. Marines Player of the Week: Barry Butera
During the week, Butera batted .545 (12-22) with two doubles, four RBIs, and three stolen bases. He has batted .487 over his past ten games. He has hit four doubles over that span.
Barry's week was highlighted by a 3-3 performance on August 15 against the Williamsport Crosscutters. He had an RBI and a walk in that game.
Butera was one of the standouts on the 2009 Boston College Eagles. He played along side Tony Sanchez, the Pittsburgh Pirates number one pick, fourth overall. In his last year with the Eagles, Barry batted .326 with four home runs and 34 RBIs.
Butera was selected in the 21st round of this year's draft, and has been one of the most consistent players on the ValleyCats this season.
