Snapper's Come Back Falls Short
The Kane County Cougars avoided the four-game series sweep of the Snappers as the Cougars were able to defeat the Snappers by a score of 3-2 Sunday afternoon.
In the loss Brad Tippett dropped to 8-7 on the year as he went six solid innings where he gave up only three earned runs and struck out five batters.
The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead as the Snappers were able to chip at the lead late in the ball game.
In the seventh inning Drew Thompson cracked his second home run of the season to right center field to put the Snappers on the board.
In the eighth inning the offense would strike again as Aaron Hicks led off the frame with a double to right field over the head of Cougar's right fielder Chris Berroa. A throwing error moved Hicks to third. Ramon Santana walked as Danny Rams single to right to score Hicks cutting the Cougar lead to one. With the bases loaded Thompson grounded into a double play to end the Snapper threat.
In the ninth Adan Severino earned a lead off walk to start the final frame, but would be stranded.
Danny Rams had a perfect day at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run knocked in. Angel Morales also had a pair of hits as he went 2-for-4 at the dish.
The Snappers will head to Kane County for a four-game road series with the Cougars starting Monday night at 6:30pm and will be back at Pohlman Field Friday, August 28th against the Burlington Bees starting at 7:00pm.
