Fillinger honored by Texas League

Texas League President Tom Kayser named the Missions relief pitcher Chad Fillinger Texas League Pitcher of the Week Monday. Chad is the first Missions player to be honored by the Texas League this season.

Fillinger was 2-0 for the week with allowing no runs in his two appearances for the Missions. On Monday Night in Midland, Fillinger took over for Missions starter Jason Mackintosh and tossed three shutout innings allowing two hits and striking out two. On Saturday night in San Antonio, Fillinger once again relieved Jason Mackintosh tossing four shutout innings and only allowed one hit.

The California native was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 16th round of the 2004 June draft. Chad graduated from Santa Clara University in 2004. Last season he was named to the Midwest League All-Star team while playing with the Mariners Single-A affiliate in Wisconsin.
