Spinners have exciting promotions on tap for final homestand
August 26, 2009
The Lowell Spinners have some of the best promotions of the season coming up for our next homestand. On August 27th, Lowell legend Mickey Ward will be in attendance for "Mickey Ward Bobble Head Night", sponsored by Trinity EMS/Courier and Pepsi. Ward won three New England Golden Glove titles as an amateur before turning pro in 1985. He started off 14-0 in his professional career, but after a stretch of defeats in the early 1990s, Ward retired for three years before returning in 1994 with a vengeance, winning nine straight fights. Ward will be profiled in the upcoming film "The Fighter", which features Mark Wahlberg as the acclaimed fighter. Ward was also the inspiration for the song and album "The Warrior's Code" by the Dropkick Murphys.

On August 28th, the Spinners will be giving away the 2009 Lowell Spinners uncut team card sheet and following the game will have a fireworks display. These promotions are sponsored by Pepsi, Steven Business Inc., Amica, Sal's Pizza and Lowell Provisions. The 2009 Spinners are currently in first place in the Stedler Division and feature many rising stars, this is your opportunity to get rookie cards from future Red Sox players.

The fun does not end that night, as the Belvidere Veterinary Hospital will be featuring "Extreme Blue the Frisbee Dog Bobble Head Night", on August 29th. Extreme Blue, along with his companion Jumpin Jack Flash, are long time fan favorites of the Spinners and will be honored along with a performance by the Blue Dog Group, featuring Blue and Jack.

August 31st will be a special day here at LeLacheur Park as Collins Dentistry for Children will be presenting "Gary DiSarcina Bobble Head Night". The game is also Billerica night, with many Billerica groups scheduled to be in attendance. DiSarcina, the manager of the Spinners for the past three seasons was a twelve year veteran of the California/Anaheim Angels and was an AL All Star in 1995.
