Padron sparks Cougars
With the score knotted at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning, Padron came through with a two-run single to put the Cougars (13-10) in front for good. Nick Blasi followed with a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.
Jeffrey Baisley, Jose Pineda and Frank Martinez had two hits apiece for Kane County, which had lost six of its previous seven games.
Jason Ray (1-1) notched his first win, surrendering two runs on three hits in five innings. Ray walked three and struck out five.
Steven Sharpe worked the seventh for his sixth save.
John Mayberry went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the LumberKings (7-16), who have lost three of four.
