Two GCL Yankees no-hit Jays
Turley, a 6-foot-7 right-hander, struck out three and walked one over six innings in his 11th start for the Yankees. The hit a batter, faced only two over the minimum and lowered his ERA to 2.82.
Barreda retired the final five batters before rain halted play. The 20-year-old right-hander, selected out of Sahuarita (Ariz.) High School by the Yankees in the 12th round of the 2007 Draft, fanned one to earn his first save.
The game, which took only 87 minutes to complete, was called after a 30-minute delay.
The Yankees were on the losing end of the last Gulf Coast League no-hitter on July 25, when Caleb Brewer, the Braves' 14th-round pick in the 2007 Draft, combined with three relievers on a 4-0 victory.
