Padres announce 2014 Storm Coaching staff

Quirk becomes 11th Manager in Storm History

Lake Elsinore, CA - The San Diego Padres have announced Jamie Quirk as the 2014 Lake Elsinore Storm manager. Joining Quirk will be hitting coach Jody Davis along with pitching coach Bronswell Patrick, who returns after spending a season in Triple-A with the Tucson Padres. Athletic trainer Will Sinon and Clubhouse Manager Terrance Tucker also return and will be joined by strength coach Pat Trainor.

 

Quirk becomes the 11th Manager in franchise history after serving the previous two seasons as bench coach for the Chicago Cubs. The 2014 campaign will mark the former big league catcher's 42nd season in professional baseball. The Whittier, CA product played on eight Major League squads in 18 seasons, most notably with the Kansas City Royals. He also spent time with the Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles. He finished his career with a .240 batting average, 100 doubles and 247 RBI.

 

Joining the Storm staff will be former Major League catcher Jody Davis, who begins his first season in the Padres organization. Davis had previously served as a minor league manager in the Chicago Cubs' organization as well as in the Canadian Baseball League and the Venezuelan Winter League. 

 

Patrick returns to the California League for his seventh season with the Padres organization and third with the Storm. Patrick spent the 2011 and 2012 campaigns with Lake Elsinore, helping guide the team to its third league championship in 2011. 

 

Sinon returns to the Storm for his eighth season as team trainer and 17th overall in the Padres organization. Tucker, the 2013 California League Clubhouse Manager of the Year, is back for his fourth season while Trainor begins his first season with the Padres affiliate.
