"Ernie" presented by The Historic Polk Theatre
"Ernie", The story of long time and famed Detroit Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell is being brought from Detroit to Lakeland. It had such great success at the home of the Detroit Tigers that producers decided to take it on the road to the spring training destination of the Tigers for the fan in Lakeland. So come see Ernie a the Historic Polk Theatre for a limited time only.
In playwright Mitch Albom's own words, he describes "Ernie" as … "the story of 20th century Americana and a love affair with baseball and a childhood sweetheart. Ernie went through the Depression, World War II, the segregation of sports - he also called some of the grandest moments ever witnessed on a ball field. It's an honor to bring such a rich character to the stage - especially for so many fans who loved him. The play features actual footage from historic baseball moments, supplied by Major League Baseball, and boasts many unmistakable Harwell calls."
Straight from Detroit, showing at Historic Polk County Theatre in the month of March.
