February 19, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians have been named one of the "Best Places to Work in Indiana" in the Small Employer category by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The Tribe will be recognized for its achievement in the May-June issue of the award-winning BizVoice magazine.

"The Indians are honored to be named one of the top work places in Indiana," Indians Vice President and General Manager Cal Burleson said. "Our employees do a tremendous job of making our fans feel welcome at Victory Field."

Among the many benefits offered to their full-time employees, the Indians received recognition for several unique endeavors including an annual staff trip to watch their Major League affiliate, the Pittsburgh Pirates, a family day at Victory Field each season and a yearly reception with the team's players and coaches. In addition, the Tribe was also recognized for providing staff members with special fitness and wellness programming and annual diversity initiatives.

"Our staff's exuberance is fueled by their enthusiasm for working here," Burleson said. "They have a tremendous relationship with each other and it is their esprit de corps that makes working for the Indianapolis Indians such a special experience."

The Indians will officially receive their honor when the final rankings for each company-size category are announced on Thursday, May 1 at the Best Places to Work in Indiana Awards Dinner at the Indiana Convention Center. Results for each category will also be published in BizVoice magazine. The full list of honorees can be found online at IndianaChamber.com.

The award as a Best Place to Work in Indiana continues an outstanding year of recognition for the Indianapolis Indians franchise. After leading all of Minor League Baseball with an overall attendance of 637,579 fans in 2013, the Tribe was also presented with Baseball America's Triple-A Bob Freitas Award for the best overall operations at the Triple-A level, and the International League's Executive of the Year Award for the efforts of Indians Vice President and General Manager Cal Burleson.

Your back-to-back International League West Division champion Indianapolis Indians will host their 2014 home opener on Thursday, April 10 when they take on the Toledo Mud Hens at 7:05 p.m. at Victory Field.
