Corey Smith to Sing National Anthem on March 1st
The Greenville Drive have announced their pregame on-field festivities for the Reedy River Rivalry Game on March 1st between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers.
National recording artist Corey Smith will be on hand to sing the national anthem. A native of Jefferson, Georgia, just outside of Athens, Smith is best known for his top country hits such as "Twenty-One", "If I Could Do It Again" and "I Love Everyone".
Also on hand for the game are Dr. Harris Pastides, President of the University of South Carolina, and Dr. James Clements, President of Clemson University, who will each throw out first pitches.
Pastides has been South Carolina's President since 2008. Prior to serving as President, he was the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences and Dean of the university's Arnold School of Public Health. He came to South Carolina in 1998 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he held the roles of Professor of Epidemiology and Chairman of the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology.
Clements joined Clemson University as President on December 31st. He also serves as a Professor in the School of Computing, College of Engineering and Science. Before taking over at Clemson, he served as the President of West Virginia University for nearly five years. Prior to that, he served as Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor of Information Technology and Vice President for Economic and Community Outreach at Towson University.
