Drive to Host Reedy River Rivalry Tailgate Fundraiser
The highly anticipated Reedy River Rivalry, between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers, makes its way to Fluor Field on Saturday, March 1st at 2 PM, with gates opening at noon. The game is not the only action going on around Fluor Field, however. Beginning at 10 AM, the Drive will host the Reedy River Rivalry Tailgate Fundraiser on Main Street. The event will last until 7 PM and will include food and fun for all ages!
"We are thrilled to be able to host the Reedy River Rivalry game again in 2014, as it is one of the premier rivalries in college baseball," commented Drive General Manager Eric Jarinko. "With that being said, we want this day to be more than just a baseball game. We know this tailgate fundraiser will be a great time for fans to interact with others and enjoy themselves before and after the game on Main Street."
The event is free to attend and will feature food and beverage from the Drive, Chick-fil-a of Pelham Road and Budweiser, live music from Doug McCormick, Spencer Rush and Swingin' Richards, kids games, and representatives from both Clemson and South Carolina.
All funds raised from the event will go to Team South Carolina to assist their trip to the 2014 Donate Life America Transplant Games this summer in Houston, Texas. This fundraiser is possible through the continuous support of the Greenville Drive and former major leaguer and South Carolina baseball standout, and current Furman assistant coach, Landon Powell, who is passionate and committed to Donate Life SC and the awareness of the critical need organ and tissue donation.
South Carolina is bringing Cocky and their cheerleaders to the event. At their table, they will feature the baseball national championship trophies from 2010 and 2011, the Hardee's Trophy from the South Carolina/Clemson football game and their 2014 Capital One Bowl Trophy as well as football/baseball highlights. For the kids, an inflatable baseball game will be featured.
Clemson's plans for the event will be confirmed soon.
"This will be a great event not just for the Drive organization, but for fans of South Carolina and Clemson as well," said Drive Co-Owner and Team President Craig Brown. "The atmosphere inside the ballpark is going to be electric because of the rivalry, and we're looking for Downtown Greenville and the West End to match that atmosphere. The outside of Fenway Park prior to a Red Sox game has a festive vibe to it, and that's what we want to accomplish with this event on Main Street."
