Jose Bautista recalled by Pittsburgh

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis INF/OF Jose Bautista was recalled by the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to their Sunday afternoon game against the Washington Nationals.

Bautista had recorded a base knock in six of his past seven games (.385 BA, 10-for-26, 6 R, 2 RBI) and was hitting .277 with two dingers and nine RBI in 29 Triple-A contests.

The 25-year-old owns a .190 batting average with three RBI in 75 Major League contests. He spent all of 2004 in the big leagues, splitting the campaign between Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Kansas City and Pittsburgh.

Bautista becomes the third Indianapolis player to be promoted to the parent club in 2006. INF Mike Edwards was called up on April 15 and C Ronny Paulino on April 16.
