Mike Antonellis Named Eastern League Broadcaster of the Year
Antonellis is completing his fourth season as the "Voice of the Sea Dogs". He first entered the Eastern League in 2004 as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Erie SeaWolves. Prior to working in Erie, Mike served as the play-by-play announcer for the Kane County Cougars (2002-2003), Utica Blue Sox (2001), Syracuse Skychiefs (2001), and the Prince William Cannons (1997-2000). During his travels, Antonellis has also delivered play-by-play for college football and basketball, as well as Syracuse Crunch Hockey (AHL). The 36 year-old is originally from Ashland, Massachusetts, he now makes his home in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. In addition to his "Broadcaster of the Year" honors, Antonellis finished second in the "Best Voice" category to Altoona's Ron Potesta.
New Hampshire radio broadcaster Mike Murphy finished second in the "Broadcaster of the Year" honors. While Jeff Dooley from New Britain finished third in the voting. Sea Dogs radio intern Aaron Goldsmith finished second in the "Best #2 Radio Broadcaster" category.
The Portland Sea Dogs had ten interns in 2009 that significantly contributed to the success of the Portland Sea Dogs' organization. The 2009 Sea Dogs' intern crew was comprised of Chris Baez (promotions/ stadium operations), Tom Besse (tickets), Kelly Emerson (merchandise), Ryan Erickson (media relations), Aaron Goldsmith (broadcasting), Amy Hebert (tickets), Jimmy Herter (grounds crew), Tim Miller (grounds crew), Scott Nevers (clubhouse), and Bill Rankin (group sales). The Altoona Curve interns finished second in the voting, while the Binghamton Mets and Trenton Thunder tied for third.
In the same survey, the Sea Dogs were also ranked first for having the "Best Hotel Amenities" for visiting teams in the Eastern League. The Sea Dogs use the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland, Maine as the visiting team hotel. The Sea Dogs also ranked fourth in the league for "Best Stat Pack/ Games Notes". The city of Portland was ranked second for "Best Post-Game Night Life".
The Portland Sea Dogs play their final game of the 2009 season Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tickets for the 2010 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 7th at 9:00 AM at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office.
