Tacoma, WA - Today the Tacoma Rainiers clinched the Pacific Coast League Pacific North Division after beating the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 11-2. It is the first time the Rainiers have made the playoffs since 2005 and the 11th time a Tacoma team has proceeded to the postseason in its 50 year history.

This years run to the playoff was one of the most dramatic pennant races in Tacoma baseball history. In July the team was as far back as 10 games out of 1st place. As recently as August 22nd the Rainiers were 7.5 games back in the division standings but 17 days later, which included a nine-game win streak, the Rainiers are Division Champions.

The Rainiers will now take on defending Triple-A Champion Sacramento River Cats in the Pacific Conference Championship that will begin on Wednesday. Dates, locations and times for the best-of-five series are as follows:

Sunday, September 13th 1:05 pm - Raley Field, Sacramento, CA

All Rainiers playoff games will be broadcast on South Sound Sports 850 AM. The winner of the Pacific Conference Championship Series will proceed to the Pacific Coast League Championship Series that will begin Tuesday, September 15th.
