Williams was closely allied with the Buffalo Bisons since his retirement. He acted as an adviser to the Bisons and served on the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame Committee. In 1994, he was elected to the Middle Atlantic Major League Scout Association Hall of Fame. On August 5, 1995, Williams was elected to the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame.
