Gates will open two hours prior to first pitch allowing fans to view the White Sox batting practice
March 10, 2014

The Birmingham Barons will open the gates at Regions Field at 4:00 PM for their sold-out March 28th exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox. The 6:00 PM game is being sponsored by Alabama Media Group and will be the first exhibition to take place in Birmingham between the two clubs since 2007. The sellout is the seventh in Regions Field history.

With gates opening two hours prior to first pitch and 30-minutes earlier than normal, Barons fans will have the opportunity to experience the pageantry of the event and watch pre-game batting practice.

Additionally, the Barons will hold a special Championship Ring ceremony behind home plate at 5:30 PM. White Sox manager and former Baron Robin Ventura will present 2013 Southern League Championship rings to players who were part of the team last season. Following the presentation, both teams will be introduced along the foul lines.

There will be a special pre-game concert featuring local artist, 'The Stumbling Review', in the Glowble Lighting Courtyard prior to the game from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM. The concert is presented by Good People Brewery and will feature other activities in the courtyard including corn hole, games and activities for fans to enjoy pregame.

The Barons and White Sox first played in Birmingham at Rickwood Field in 1986. The two teams would play five more times at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in 1991, 1998, 2000, 2003 and most recently in 2007. The Barons are the longest tenured of the White Sox six affiliates.
