March 12, 2014

LAKEWOOD, NJ - College baseball is coming to FirstEnergy Park on Tuesday, April 8th as the BlueClaws will host a regular season game between Rutgers University and Fordham University. Admission is free and the gates will open at 5:30 pm with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm.

The game was originally scheduled for the same date at Bainton Field in Piscataway and takes place two days before the BlueClaws home opener against Hagerstown.

"We always like to open the park for our fans prior to the first BlueClaws game, but with the team opening on the road this year, this was a natural replacement," said BlueClaws General Manager Brandon Marano. "We're looking forward to providing a night out for our fans and having a great game before the BlueClaws home-season begins."

Through games of March 11th, Rutgers is 5-8 while Fordham is 5-6.

Notable Rutgers baseball alumni include Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds, David DeJesus of the Tampa Rays and former big league manager Jeff Torborg. Notable Fordham baseball alumni include Hall of Famer Frankie Frisch and former major league pitcher Pete Harnisch.

Concession stands will be open at the game.

The BlueClaws are the Jersey Shore's top stop for affordable family entertainment. They have led the South Atlantic League in attendance in all 13 years of existence. Tickets for the 2014 season are currently on sale at BlueClaws.com/Tickets or by calling 732-901-7000 option 3.
