Blue Jays blast Cardinals

Four pitchers held the Cardinals to five hits as Dunedin pounded visiting Palm Beach, 6-1, on Thursday.

Ricky Romero struck out six and walked one in 4 2/3 innings. Daniel Core (2-0) picked up the win, retiring seven straight batters. Daryl Harang surrendered two hits and recorded two outs before Connor Falkenbach threw 1 1/3 perfect frames.

Ryan Klosterman led the offense for the Blue Jays (19-15), going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Juan Peralta and Aaron Mathews delivered run-scoring singles in the fourth inning. Ron Davenport sent a solo homer over the right-field wall in the fifth and John Schneider launched a two-run shot in the seventh.

Palm Beach starter Nick Webber (3-1) allowed two runs on five hits over four innings. He fanned one and walked four.

Tyler Greene went 2-for-4 for the Cardinals (18-15), who scored their only run on a groundout by Matt Pagnozzi in the fourth. --Max Lance/MLB.com
