Braves Future Stars get 13-4 Win
The Braves Future Stars shined brightly Saturday afternoon in a 13-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves before a record crowd of 6,314.
The Future Stars took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Joey Meneses. Atlanta tied the contest in the third. Evan Gattis was hit by a pitch, Andrelton Simmons singled and Jason Heyward reached on an error to load the bases. Gattis later scored the tying run on a wild pitch by Lucas Sims.
The Futures took the lead in the fourth as Edward Salcedo doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Edison Sanchez for the 2-1 score. In the top of the seventh, the Future Stars broke the game open with eight runs highlighted by a grand slam by Josh Elander making it a 10-1score. The Futures added a run in the eighth and two in the ninth while Atlanta pushed across two in the seventh and one in the ninth for the 13-4 final.
The victory goes to Lucas Sims and the loss to Craig Kimbrel. Atlanta heads to Milwaukee tomorrow to begin the 2014 season on Monday against the Brewers while the Braves minor league system opens next week.
