Senators Announce the Change of Team Name
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators are pleased to announce they are changing the name of the team from Senators to Mayflies. From today forward, Tuesday, April 1, the Senators will be known as the Harrisburg Mayflies. For the past 27 seasons fans have come to embrace the Senators name and history, but the team felt that this year, on this date, it was time to make a change.
Changing the team name to Mayflies came from months of planning, talking, discussing, and finally the decision was made to embrace the Mayfly. Several weeks ago the team announced they had added an on-field cap, a Mayfly cap, to their arsenal. Little was it known then, to fans, that it was a precursor to the team name change.
