Isotopes Top Tacoma

April 6, 2014

TACOMA, Wash. - Zach Lee allowed two runs in five innings in his triple-A debut and the Albuquerque Isotopes defeated the Tacoma Rainiers, 9-3, Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium to win their season-opening series.

Lee (1-0) retired seven in a row at one point, and the final six batters he faced. The Dodgers' first-round pick in 2010 allowed two hits, struck out three and walked one --- the leadoff batter in the fourth inning. Cole Gillespie followed with an RBI double and Jesus Montero's sacrifice fly scored the only runs Lee allowed.

The Isotopes (2-1) had 14 hits, including five doubles. Nick Buss' two-run single in the second inning made it 3-0. Jamie Romak, Carlos Triunfel and Brendan Harris had RBI doubles in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, respectively.

Three relievers combined to allow one run over the final four innings.
