Juremi Profar Added to Crawdads
Hickory, NC - The Hickory Crawdads, Class A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, made their first roster move of the 2014 season Thursday. Juremi Profar, the younger brother of former 'Dad great and current Ranger Jurickson Profar, was added to the team's 25-man roster, while first baseman Ronald Guzman was transferred to Extended Spring Training.
Profar, 18, comes to Hickory after playing the 2013 season in the Dominican Summer League, where the 6'1" 185-pound infielder hit .281 with 13 doubles, one triple, and a 13/22 strikeout to walk ratio. A native of Willemstad, Curacao, Profar becomes the youngest player on the Crawdads at 18 years, 70 days.
Guzman, 19,was hitting .273 (6-22), with two doubles, two RBIs, and two stolen bases through six games played this season. The Dominican Republic native hit .272 with four home runs and 26 RBIs over 49 games in Hickory in 2013.
