Largest crowd ever at Applebee's Park enjoys Aldean, Lambert

September 26, 2009
(APPLEBEE'S PARK, Lexington, Ky.) A sold-out crowd of just over 10,000 braved a thunderstorm and steady rain to hear country artists Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert at Applebee's Park in Lexington Friday night.

The attendance was the largest for a single event in the nine-year history of the facility, home of the Lexington Legends of the South Atlantic League. Placement of the concert stage allowed several thousand fans to watch from on the field in addition to the 7,000-seat seating bowl used for baseball.

The concert was part of the Alltech Fortnight Festival, a series of entertainment events to begin the one-year countdown to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, which will be held in Lexington.

"The fact that over 10,000 Kentuckians came out in poor weather tonight is simply amazing," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "We had Applebee's Park record attendance tonight and I have no reason to believe that this isn't the start of a series of many more great events to come through Applebee's Park. There isn't another staff or facility that can provide the entertainment we witnessed tonight."

By the end of 2009, the Alltech Fortnight Festival will have visited 11 Kentucky cities and presented 41 entertainment events in 17 different venues, showcasing award-winning artists of many genres from around the world.
