Brian Poldberg named second inductee into Naturals Hall of Fame
Springdale, Ark. - After six tremendous seasons with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, on April 10, 2014 the Northwest Arkansas Naturals proudly announced former Manager Brian Poldberg as the second inductee into the Naturals Hall of Fame.
In the 2013 offseason, Poldberg earned a promotion to manage the Omaha Stormchasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Poldberg managed the Naturals for their inaugural 2008 season, and led the Kansas City Royals Double-A affiliate to four playoff appearances. In 2010, he led the team to their greatest accomplishment to date, a Texas League Championship.
Prior to his managerial career, Poldberg first joined the Royals organization as a catcher for the Triple-A affiliate in 1983, then known as the Omaha Royals. Along with his background as a catcher from his playing days, "Poley" has received high praise for his ability to develop catchers, including the likes of 2013 Major League All-Star Salvador Perez.
Along with Perez, Poldberg has managed several other current Royals including, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Greg Holland, Aaron Crow, among others. In six seasons as skipper of the Naturals, Poldberg accumulated a 241-175 career record at Arvest Ballpark, and with that he joins Clint Robinson as the only two members in the Naturals Hall of Fame.
The Seventh Season of Naturals Baseball begins Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Frisco, TX. The team opens at Arvest Ballpark on Thursday April 10, 2014 against the same Frisco RoughRiders.
