Graveman named MWL Pitcher of the Week
LANSING, Mich. - Two days after bringing a no-hitter into the ninth inning at Beloit, Lansing Lugnuts starting pitcher Kendall Graveman has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 14-20.
On Friday night at Pohlman Field, Graveman held the Beloit Snappers hitless through 25 outs, issuing solely a third-inning walk, before Jose Chavez spoiled the bid with an infield single. The right-hander departed following 8 1/3 scoreless innings, with Griffin Murphy completing a two-hit shutout.
An 8th round draft pick out of Mississippi State last season, the 23-year-old Graveman leads the league with 20 1/3 innings pitched, with his 0.44 ERA ranking second in the circuit.
He is the first Lugnut honored by the MWL this season.
The Lugnuts return to action tonight to host the opener of a four-game series against the Lake County Captains, beginning a seven-game homestand at Cooley Law School Stadium. Alberto Tirado (0-0, 3.38 ERA) starts for Lansing against Lake County's Dace Kime (0-3, 13.06).
Tickets are available for purchase via the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, telephone at 517-485-4500 and online at lansinglugnuts.com. To sign up for Lugnuts Alerts, text LUGNUTS to 80373.
