Lake Elsinore Completes Sweep of Inland Empire

Storm Jump on Sixers Early and Often
April 28, 2014

Lake Elsinore, CA: A pair of big innings out of the gates propelled the Lake Elsinore Storm to a 13-3 win over Inland Empire on Sunday at The Diamond. The Storm completed a three-game sweep of the Sixers due in large part to a five-run outburst in the first and four more in the second inning.

The Storm (13-11) tagged IE starter Alex Keudell for nine runs on 11 hits as he fell to 0-4 in 2014. Lake Elsinore starter Ruben Mejia bounced back from a rough spot-start for triple-A El Paso (.1IP, 7ER, 4H, 3BB) to handle the 66ers. He went six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits with four K's and no walks to improve to 2-1 in Cal League play.

Every batter for Lake Elsinore had at least one hit. Diego Goris and Luis Domoromo each had three hits and three RBI for the Padres' farm club. Domoromo and Reynaldo Bruguera homered for the Storm. Lake Elsinore was 8-for-16 with runners in scoring position and tallied six doubles to go along with the pair of homers. The 18 hits matched the most allowed by Sixers' pitching in 2014.

Alex Allbritton had the lone multi-hit game for Inland Empire (8-16). He was two-for-three with a RBI. His third inning double was the lone extra-base hit for the 66ers on Sunday. Jose Rondon did single to extend his hitting-streak to ten games.

The Sixers start a home stand on Monday at a special 3:30 pm start time at San Manuel Stadium. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
