Blue Jays promote Marcus Stroman

Young prospect gets first big league call

The Toronto Blue Jays tonight announced that they have selected the contract of RHP MARCUS STROMAN from the Buffalo Bisons.

Stroman, 23, was the Bisons Opening Day starter and was 2-2 with a 1.69 ERA over five starts with the club. In 26.2 innings of work, the righty allowed just 22 hits while striking out 36 -4th most in the International League. He threw the first complete game of his professional career in the second game of a doubleheader in Lehigh Valley on April 9 (6.0 IP, 3 H, R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 8 SO) and collected his first win at Triple-A in his next outing, April 16 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (5.1 IP, 5 H, 9 SO). In his final and most impressive start with the Bisons, April 29 vs. Louisville, Stroman struck out 10 and walked just one in six no-hit innings. He earned his second win with Buffalo in a 4-1 victory over the Bats.
