Offensive Players of the Week

Here's a look at the top offensive performers in each league for the week ending May 4:

International League
Kevin Pillar, Buffalo
(.444/.483/.593, 6 G, 12-for-27, 2 2B, 1 3B, 9 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 SB, 1 CS)
Pillar -- the Blue Jays' No. 15 prospect -- carried a rough Spring Training campaign (.152 average in 21 games) into the start of the season with the Bisons (.114 average in his first 10 games) before turning it around at the end of April. His current 16-game hitting streak, which included a 4-for-4 night last Monday and a walk-off triple on Saturday, is tied with Oscar Taveras' 16-game run for the longest such streak in Triple-A this season. The right-handed outfielder owns a .275/.313/.394 slash line in 26 games with the Bisons in 2014.

Pacific Coast League
Joe Panik, Fresno
(.433/.485/.533, 7 G, 13-for-30, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 8 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 0 CS)
Panik, who batted .341 in 2011 and .297 in 2012, struggled some at the plate with a .257 average for Double-A Richmond last season. The bat has been back early this season, as seen in his last six games. After starting the week with an 0-for-6 game Monday, Panik went 13-for-24 the rest of the way, capped by a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles and three runs scored against Albuquerque on Sunday. The Giants' No. 14 prospect is batting .344 on the season.

Eastern League
Wade Gaynor, Erie
(.300/.391/.900, 6 G, 6-for-20, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 8 K)
The 25-year-old third baseman had hit 52 home runs in his six Minor League seasons but had never gone deep twice in a game before doing so in the second game of Erie's doubleheader with Altoona on Thursday. He carried that momentum forward by hitting a home run in each of the following two contests. Gaynor, who is winning his first career Player of the Week honor, now sits in a tie for second in the Eastern League with six homers this season.

Southern League
Nick Ramirez, Huntsville
(.462/.481/.962, 6 G, 12-for-26, 3 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 7 R, 1 BB, 6 K)
Talk about nabbing the award at the last minute. Five of Ramirez's 12 hits and four of his 11 RBIs came Saturday in Huntsville's last game of the week (the Stars had a scheduled off day Sunday). The 5-for-5 performance bumped the 24-year-old first baseman's average and OBP up from .245 and .319 to .279 and .347, respectively. His 26 RBIs on the season rank second in the Southern League behind only Mobile's David Peralta (31).

Texas League
Kaleb Cowart, Arkansas

The Angels have to be thrilled with the recent turnaround of their top prospect, who is playing in the Texas League for the second straight season after batting .221 with a .580 OPS in 2013. By homering in three straight games to kick off May, including a go-ahead blast in the 15th inning Saturday, Cowart has four long balls for the season after going deep just six times in 132 games for the Travelers a year ago. His slash numbers (.271/.322/.430) are also up across the board, but his most impressive feat may be on the basepaths. Despite being given a 40 grade for speed by MLB.com, Cowart is a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases this season.

California League
Chris O'Dowd, Modesto
(.538/.552/.808, 6 G, 14-for-26, 5 2B, 1 3B, 8 RBI, 7 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 3 SB)
Yes, that name should look familiar because the 23-year-old is indeed the son of Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd, but the Nuts backstop made a name for himself with a stellar showing at the plate last week. His four RBIs on Thursday highlighted Modesto's eight-run comeback in a 10-8 win over San Jose. The switch hitter has driven in at least one run in seven of his last eight games.

Carolina League
Reed Gragnani, Salem
(.533/.650/.867, 5 G, 8-for-15, 1 2B, 2 3B, 4 RBI, 7 R, 5 BB, 1 K)
It shouldn't be a surprise to see a Red Sox second baseman on this list, except this one's not named Mookie Betts. Gragnani had hits in each of his five games last week and had two hits in three of those contests. Playing in his first full season since being drafted in the 21st round out of the University of Virginia last June, the switch hitter leads the Carolina League with a .400 average and a .477 OBP and is second with a 1.024 OPS, ranking behind only the prodigious slugger Joey Gallo (1.109).

Florida State League
Michael Reed, Brevard County
(.571/.700/1.048, 6 G, 12-for-21, 4 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 9 R, 8 BB, 1 K, 3 SB, 2 CS)
In a week that featured a three-homer game and a cycle for Brevard County, it was Reed's consistency that earned him the honor here. The 21-year-old outfielder had multiple hits in four of his six games. His most impressive performance came Tuesday, when he went 2-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs, three walks and a stolen base. For the season, he's shown an incredible eye (28 walks vs. 16 strikeouts) and ranks seventh among all Minor Leaguers with a .487 OBP as a result.

Midwest League
Austin Wilson, Clinton
(.375/.429/.833, 7 G, 9-for-24, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 3 K)
Wilson's 11 RBIs in seven games are impressive on their own, but in context, they jump out even more. The right-handed outfielder drove in four as part of a 3-for-4 performance -- he missed the cycle by a homer -- in the second half of a doubleheader against Quad Cities on Wednesday and went beyond that by plating six runs three days later. His previous career high for RBIs in one game was three, set last year with Class A Short Season Everett and matched on April 11 this season.

South Atlantic League
Dylan Cozens, Lakewood
(.435/.423/.826, 6 G, 10-for-23, 4 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R, 1 BB, 3 K)
Entering the week with a .226 average on the season, Cozens was in big need of a pick-me-up, and that's exactly what he provided. He collected four multi-hit games over the course of the week. His two doubles on Tuesday gave him his first game this season with multiple extra base hits, and he matched the feat three days later. Thanks to his 10-for-23 performance on the week, Cozens raised his average to .267, its highest level since April 22.
