Chiefs announce partnership with Bully Busters Unite

In an effort to put an end to bullying, the Syracuse Chiefs are proud to announce a partnership with the national outreach program Bully Busters Unite. The Chiefs and Bully Busters Unite will officially announce their partnership during the team's Anti-Bullying Night, Tuesday, May 6th at 7:00 PM. Fans attending that night's game are encouraged to take the official "Bully Buster Pledge", vowing to not take part in bullying and to stop it from occurring.
"This anti-bullying initiative is very important to us here at the Chiefs", said general manager Jason Smorol. "We're pleased to partner with Bully Busters Unite and want to help influence the end of bullying here in Central New York and elsewhere."
The unveiling of the program in the Syracuse area will take place in June at Minoa Elementary School, part of the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District, with another kickoff event open to the public slated to occur within the E-S-M school district. Details for these events will be announced in the coming weeks. An official roll out of the program in the Syracuse area will occur in September, at the start of the 2014-15 academic year.
In addition, Minoa Elementary School principal Mary Ward will be throwing out at the first pitch at Tuesday's game. Ward will be recognized for helping the Chiefs kick off their Bully Busters Unite program.
Bully Busters Unite is a school assembly outreach program that looks to empower children to make the right decisions about bullying in their schools and communities. Its target is elementary schools throughout a given region, with its goal to prevent bullying behavior in children before it can even start.
Anti-Bullying Night is also a Two-For-Tuesday, where fans can buy any one ticket and receive a second ticket for free.
"By pairing Anti-Bullying Night with Two-For-Tuesday", said Smorol, "we're hoping it will be even easier for families to come out and show their support in numbers as great as possible. The more people that learn about Bully Busters Unite's message, the more we can do to stop the spread of bullying from a young age."
