Rougned Odor Promoted to the Majors

From the time Rougned Odor reached Hickory as an 18-year-old in 2012, it was apparent that he had the potential to reach the major leagues quickly. Now 20, Odor has fulfilled his dream.

On Thursday, Odor became the 122nd former Crawdads player to make it to the big leagues when the Texas Rangers promoted him from AA Frisco. Signed as an international free agent in 2011, the native of Maracaibo, Venezuela batted .259 in 109 games for Hickory with 23 doubles, four triples, ten homers and 47 RBI . He also stole 19 bases and scored 60 runs. His .975 fielding pct. at second base is the fifth best mark overall and in a season for the Crawdads. Odor was named the South Atlantic League player of the week on May 29, 2012.

Odor split time last year at high-A Myrtle Beach, where he was named as a post-season Carolina League All-star, and at AA Frisco before returning to the RoughRiders this year. He batted .279 in 32 games this season with six homers and 21 runs scored.
